Medical care for the Hilltribe people of Northern Thailand
Hi my name is Kate Kellogg and I'm currently volunteering with a doctor who travels in the jungle of Northern Thailand to give medical care to the hilltribe people who live there. Because most of these people are not permitted to hold Thai citizenship, they do not have other access to medical care. Clinics are held wherever we can find space, and appreciative villagers sometimes wait for hours to see Dr. David and recieve the prescriptions he brings with him. One of the biggest obstacles to David's work is transportation. We spend a lot of time waiting for transportation or walking between the towns, and a lot of money for boats or trucks or villagers to carry the medications. A used truck would facilitate this work very much and would only cost about $750 USD. Most people donate funds for medicines and while any contributions would be greatly appreciated, those earmarked for buying a truck would be very useful. Thank you so much for your time, thoughts, and donations.
Cheers. |
